Turkish Lace is an important branch of Turkish handicrafts carried out by women. Lace and needlework, which have different origins, applications, and products, are separately developed handicrafts.

While some researchers argue that the first lace samples came to Turkey from Venice and other European countries after the 16th century; others state that handicrafts of the type of needlework, which developed a lot in eastern countries and especially in Anatolia, were taken to Europe by the Venetians and came to Turkey with the name “lace” in a slightly changed form.
